HNRO Launches Fundraising Campaign

HNRO Iraq

HNRO is happy to report that the operation to liberate Nineveh has commenced. In preparation for the liberation of our homelands, HNRO has launched a fundraising appeal to support the following urgent needs.

1. Continue Supporting IDPs in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI): Ensure access to essential medical care, food, and adequate education.

2. Develop Coordinated Effort to Return to and Rebuild Nineveh:  Undertake efforts to re-establish the economic, cultural, and social rights of Nineveh’s religious and ethnic minorities.

3. Nineveh Historical Memory Project: Document the stories of IDPs and ensure that these minorities are not forgotten. Elevate the voices and experiences of the survivors of the Nineveh displacement.

If urgent action is not taken, we fear ISIS’ attempts to exterminate minorities and destroy their historic territories in the heart of the Middle East may be successful. Few members of the minority groups ISIS targeted remain in Nineveh and the damage by ISIS to minority sites is overwhelming and heartbreaking. Reports from troops in recently freed towns, such as Qaraqosh, Bartella, and Karemelesh, reveal that up to 80% of the buildings and historical sites have been destroyed.

Religious and ethnic minorities targeted by ISIS seek to return to their homes in Nineveh, and to continue living in Iraq in peace, equality, and dignity.

Read the full letter below to learn more about what’s happening with religious and ethnic minorities in Iraq and HNRO’s campaign.

We thank you in advance for your generosity in responding to this fundraising appeal to enable programming to support those remaining in Iraq and to prepare for the return to Nineveh.
