The Closing Ceremony of the Rubble Removal Project in Al-Hamdaniya District – Nineveh Plain, 2019

 

The Humanitarian Nineveh Relief Organization held the closing ceremony for the project of rubble removal for the fully destroyed houses, facilitating the rehabilitation process in Hamdaniya and supporting the conditions for safe and successful return in Ninewa. With the support of ICRI, funded by USAID, and in cooperation with The Church Supreme Board for Reconstruction – Baghdeda, Karmles Reconstruction Office, Bartella Reconstruction Committee, St. George’s Committee for Reconstruction/ Baretly, and the Shabak Notables Council.

The Ceremony was held in Bartella, in 31 July 2019. With the attendance of beneficiaries, community leaders, government officials, civil society activists, clergymen, multimedia and social media, and members of the society.

Project Results:

1-   The Church Supreme Board for Reconstruction – Baghdeda  removed the rubbles of 16 fully destructed units, in addition to 16 additional (extra) units, within the granted amount of $48,000 USD. It is also expected to remove other 7-9 extra units within this grant.

 

2-   The Karmles Reconstruction Office removed the rubbles of 15 fully destructed units, in addition to 15 additional (extra) units, within the granted amount of $45,000 USD.

 

3-   The Shabak Notables Council removed the rubbles of 7 fully destructed units, in addition to 1 additional (extra) unit, within the granted amount of $21,000 USD.

 

4-   The St. George’s Reconstruction Committee removed the rubbles of 3 fully destructed units, in addition to 1 additional (extra) unit, within the granted amount of $15,000 USD.

 

5-   The Bartella Reconstruction Committee removed the rubbles of 25 fully destructed units within the granted amount of $75,000 USD. It is also expected to remove other 4 extra units within this grant.

The Legal Clinic Project held a workshop on (Monitoring and Advocacy) at the headquarters of the Organization in Bartella in 10 May 2019. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. William Warda, as it was attended by 15 lawyers and human rights activists from the cities of Nineveh plain as well as from Ankawa.

HNRO’s Legal Clinic Project launched its legal awareness program through holding the third seminar on Friday, February. 08, 2019. The seminar, entitled “Documenting violations and its importance in ensuring rights”, was held in karlovey vary hotel in ankawa . The seminar was presented by, Mr. Raed Ishaq Matti , and addressed several topics such as: (Documentation, monitoring, fact-finding, documentation objectives, credibility and accuracy, integrity, confidentiality and other.) The lecture was attended by several public figures, officials, members of civil society organizations, activists, and clergymen.

The Grand Annual Sports festival, 2019

Sponsored by the Humanitarian Nineveh Relief Organization (H.N.R.O), Al-Hamdaniya Directorate of Education held the grand annual sports festival for Alhamdaniya District Schools in Apr. 16, 2019 in Amu-Baba Stadium in Qaraqosh -  Nineveh.

In its 2nd edition after the victory over ISIS, the festival began with a parade of the participating schools, followed by a welcoming speech by the head of Al-Hamdaniya Directorate of Education. As well as remarks by the General Director of the Nineveh Education.

The festival included different activities and competitions such as parading, track and field, gymnasium shows, etc. The participating schools came from different areas of Alhamdaniya District, with students and staff from different ethnic and religious backgrounds.

The festival was attended by the Commander of Nineveh Operations Maj. Gen. Najem Al-Jubouri, Mr. Amin Ibrahim Al-Fanash - Assistant Governor of Nineveh for Administrative Affairs, Mr. Wahid Farid Abdul Qader - Director General of Ninawa Education, Directors of Education Departments, Iraqi officials, Notables, Clergymen, and a large audience.

A legal awareness seminar held by H.N.R.O’s Legal Clinic Project

The seminar was presented by the rights activist, Mr. Youhanna Yousef Toma, and addressed several topics such as: (Documentation, monitoring, fact-finding, documentation objectives, credibility and accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, international human rights law, genocide, and other.)

Supporting Basic Services through Waste Collection in Al-Hamdaniya District” ....

Through the (Iraq Community Resilience initiative, #ICRI) funded by the #USAID, and in coordination with Al-Hamdanyia and Bartella Municipality Directorates,
H.N.R.O held the Final Ceremony of  the Project “Supporting Basic Services through Waste Collection in Al-Hamdaniya District”. The Event was held on Saturday, 15 Dec. 2018 in Bartella.

 

Many guests attended the event including municipalities, district council members, religious leaders, and members of the community.


The project comprised of distributing 350 metric waste containers on the city centers of the cities #Qaraqosh, #Bartella and #Karmles in the Nineveh Plain.
